Paula Lonneman's Opening Reception

We celebrated Paula's latest collection of oil paintings on July1!  Her show was called "Some Like It Hot"..and it WAS that night!

For those of you that didn't know this, Paula had just completed painting her series when she fell and broke what we thought was just one arm.  Turns out it was both arms (in the same place at both elbows)!  By the night of her party, her doctor released her to remove one of the casts and the other one was in a sling.  It made shaking hands with collectors a bit hard to do, but her infectious smile made everyone feel glad they came.  Here are pictures from her big event!

Beacham Show is hung!

We've started  preparations for this Saturday's champagne reception for Helen K. Beacham's latest collection of watercolors (April 30, 5-8pm).  It's amazing how something as simple as listening to a classic story on tape can influence an artist's painting mood and style.  Helen Beacham listed to "The Good Earth" by Pearl S. Buck, and the results are magical.

Lowcountry landscapes feel Oriental in style...Charleston architecture floats in front of our eyes...flowers dance in the foggy atmosphere.  The show is entitled "The Essence of Vapor" and will hang through the month of May.

2011 Fellowship Award

We've been wanting to shout this from Charleston's rooftops for a while now!  We believe in Charleston's art scene and we're opening our own gallery!!!  The "we" part is me (Helen) and my two "partners in art" (Paula & Judy).  All 3 of us have well-established careers in art, hailing from different parts of the country.  We met a few years ago here in Charleston, and have found a synergy amongst us that has made it possible (or at least WILL make it possible) to open our gallery in just under 2 months' time!  The lease had to be finalized, the space still has to be painted, our gallery name had to be chosen (we loved & chose INDIGO FINE ART GALLERY), our website is being built, and so on with the "behind-the-scenes" part of the business that would daunt most people.  We all have different strengths that we bring to this venture, and we're very much looking forward to showing you what we're all about this September.  The doors open the first week of Sept so stop by to say hi.  And, if we're not finished painting those walls, grab a brush and jump in there!
