The weather was gorgeous...the crowds came out!  All wanted a peek at Helen Beacham's newest collection of watercolors in a series entitled "The Essence of Vapor".  The rest of the gallery artists were a hit as well.  The champagne flowed, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening!  We're most grateful for everyone's terrific support!

Beacham Show is hung!

We've started  preparations for this Saturday's champagne reception for Helen K. Beacham's latest collection of watercolors (April 30, 5-8pm).  It's amazing how something as simple as listening to a classic story on tape can influence an artist's painting mood and style.  Helen Beacham listed to "The Good Earth" by Pearl S. Buck, and the results are magical.

Lowcountry landscapes feel Oriental in style...Charleston architecture floats in front of our eyes...flowers dance in the foggy atmosphere.  The show is entitled "The Essence of Vapor" and will hang through the month of May.

The Thicket

Helen continues to create luminous paintings that are even more spectacular  in person...only then can one truly enjoy all the subtle, sedimentary color choices in her current palette.  This piece is part of  "The Essence of Vapor" series which will be unveiled on Saturday, April 30 at Indigo Fine Art Gallery.  Previews are available.

Honorable Mention!

In December 13th's post, we mentioned that "Live Oak Canopy" (by Helen K. Beacham) would be in the gallery right after it's framed...well, it took a little detour in the meantime and won an Honorable Mention award at the Charleston Artist Guild's "Member Exhibition" on Friday night.  The judge's comments included the following statement:  "...This is a competent handling of a typical Southern subject that stands above the average!  Its unusual palette, with autumn colors, has a luminescence with the earth tones, especially under the trees...."
Why not plan to come into the gallery and see it for yourself?

Live Oak Canopy - Newest Painting

Here's Helen's latest watercolor entitled "Live Oak Canopy".  This scene is from Middleton Plantation.  In a couple of days, it should be framed and hanging in the gallery.   Enjoy!
